Jamie New is sixteen and lives on a council estate in Sheffield. However, Jamie is a little different to the other teenagers at his school. He harbors a secret dream: to be a drag queen! But first, he needs to find the confidence to be his true self beyond the walls of his home.
Although Jamie is terrified about the future, he knows that, one way or another, he will be a sensation. He is supported every step of the way by his loving mum, Margaret, who would do anything for her boy. He also has the love and support of his best school friend, Pritti, who reassures Jamie that his difference is what makes him beautiful.
Despite the bullying, the prejudice, and the public humiliation, Jamie learns to embrace his inner queen and steps into the spotlight...his spotlight.

Scott Bennett - Blood Sugar Baby
One family, one condition, one hell of a hairy baby… Scott Bennett (from Live at the Apollo and The News Quiz) tells the amazing true story of how his daughter fell ill with a rare genetic condition, congenital hyperinsulinism (CHI). Never heard of it? Neither had Scott and Jemma.
‘What’s so rare and satisfying is how all the jokes go hand in hand with the seriousness of the situation. It’s a wonderfully hopeful, often hilarious show from a properly funny man’ The Times ★★★★
Yes, it’s a story about an ill baby, but it’s a very funny one with a happy ending, as new parents Scott and Jemma fight to get the right diagnosis for their daughter and are plunged into months of bewildering treatment, sleepless nights, celebrity encounters and bizarre side effects.
'Comedy's best kept secret' Evening Standard ★★★★
As heard on the Parenting Hell podcast.
Forthcoming TV/Radio includes The Royal Variety Performance and a Radio 4 Special.
