Marrows and Murder - an Interactive Murder Mystery with Afternoon Tea

Marrows and Murder - an Interactive Murder Mystery with Afternoon Tea

Please arrive at 2:30pm for a 3pm start

Following the success of our previous Murder Mystery Afternoon Tea events, The Allerton Players and the Northallerton Mowbray Rotary Club will be joining together for a follow up. This time the scenario for “Marrows and Murder” has been prepared by the Allerton Players own award winning playwright Deborah Hugill.

The annual village show in Thirldale is in full swing. Everyone is enjoying themselves until tragedy strikes when the judge of the fruit and vegetable competitions is brutally murdered, just after the winner of the Best Vegetable Marrow is announced.

If you’ve played Cluedo or watched Poirot, it’s now your turn to be a part of the action! After our actors have set the scene it will be time for us all to have afternoon tea whilst we ponder the clues, question the suspects and take our decision on “whodunnit” and why?

Based on our previous events we are sure there will be lots of amusing takes on the answer – and a prize awaits the person nearest to getting it right.

Afternoon Tea is included in your ticket price. There will be a raffle and a chance to buy pre-loved crime and mystery books. All proceeds from the event will go to Hambleton Foodshare.

For catering purposes we need everyone to buy their tickets in advance. If you would like to sit together please book your seats together as one transaction.

The Misanthrope

by Martin Crimp

after Molière

directed by Indhu Rubasingham

Award-winner Sandra Oh (Killing Eve) plays the title role in this razor-sharp reimagining of Molière’s classic dark comedy.

Telling the truth isn’t always that simple. Alice, a brilliant novelist, despises the carefully constructed lies of modern society. But the more she challenges those around her, the fiercer the backlash becomes. Soon, she must confront the price of speaking her truth in a world that would rather silence her.

Filmed live on stage at the National Theatre, Indhu Rubasingham directs Martin Crimp’s (Cyrano de Bergerac) highly anticipated play.
